As a winner of the inaugural Creative Place Awards, delivered by Creative Scotland to celebrate and recognise the hard work and imagination that contributes to the rich cultural life of a community, St Andrewsis launching its Creative Places Hub this Wednesday 20th June.
Local brewers St Andrews Brewing Company have come up with a recipe for a limited edition Real Ale to celebrate this year’s Crail Food Festival, 15th-17th June. 300 bottles of the special ale, aptly named ‘Crail Ale’, will be produced as part of the second annual festival which celebratesFife local produce over 3 days with a lively seaside market, food demonstrations from professional chefs, taster sessions and top-notch evening entertainment.

2012 is a very special year for St Andrews. The town has been honoured with the title “Scotland’s Creative Place 2012″ in recognition of the superb array of festivals and events that are happening throughout the year.
St Andrews has been given a cash prize of 150,000 as a winner of the Creative Place Awards, a national initiative that aims to recognise and reward the contribution of local organisations to the vital cultural life of Scotland’s communities.
The application for the award was led by St Andrews Partnership and the Byre Theatre who are now working together to create a vibrant and jam-packed cultural calendar for this year. With the funding from the Creative Place Awards, St Andrews is able to host its own Year of Celebration 2012 which hopes to showcase the fantastic variety of cultural events held annually as well as hosting some brand-new ones.
